P. VENUGOPAL RAO

Shri P. Venugopal Rao from HVAC batch has brought laurels to SDI-Visakhapatnam by bagging GOLD medal at the India Skills Competition held in New Delhi in Oct 2018, and qualified for World Skills Competition to be held in Russia in 2019. He made his way to the National Level, by handsomely winning the District Level, State Level (Naipunya) and Regional Level (India Skills South) competitions. Venugopal hailing from a poor family in Srikakulam, did his ITI-Refrigeration & Air Conditioning and joined SDI-Visakhapatnam to further hone his skills. He eagerly awaits to compete at World Skills Competition.

T. NIRANJAN

T. Niranjan of Fitter Fabrication batch (son of a farmer from Srikakulam District) works with Prime Meiden Ltd. Nellore (an Indo-Japanese joint venture company) and earns a salary of Rs.16,000/- per month. He completed his ITI education from Srikakulam and joined Skill Development Institute, Visakhapatnam to further his skills in Fitter trade, which helped him to get a job soon after successfully completing the training. He is thankful to SDI-Visakhapatnam for providing him this opportunity.

K. SATISH

K. Satish of Instrumentation batch, working in an electronics firm in Visakhapatnam, was delighted when his interview along with his parents, was featured in Doordarshan National TV in the program 'Hunnarbaaz' sponsored by National Skill Development Corporation to showcase success stories under Skill India Mission. Satish's father works as a watchman in a small housing complex while his mother works as a servant maid . Satish has a school going sister. He thanks SDI-Visakhapatnam for enabling him to secure a good job and lend a helping hand to his family in their income.

PILLA JAYA RAM

Pilla Jaya Ram, a B.Sc. (Chemistry) Graduate hailing from a farmer's family, topped the Skill Competitions inWelding at District & State Level (Naipunya) and reached the India Skills South Regional Level in Welding. His interest in welding trade brought him to SDI-Visakhapatnam. After successfully completing a 3-months certification course in Manual Metal Arc Welding at SDI, Jaya Ram is presently pursuing further training in advanced welding to secure a suitable assignment abroad.

KILAPARTHI NIRANJAN

Kilaparthi Niranjan of Fitter Fabrication Batch (son of a maid servant from Vizianagaram) is working in Adyard, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (a leading Engineering service provider for Oil & Gas Sector) earning a salary of 1700 UAE Dirhams per month. After completing ITI in Vizianagaram, he was not getting any suitable job. In the meantime he got to know about Skill Development Institute-Visakhapatnam through his friend and joined the course for Fitter Fabrication. Within 3 months of completing the training from SDI-Visakhapatnam, he secured this overseas assignment.

KONATALA SURESH GOPI

Konatala Suresh Gopi, a 10th Class pass unemployed youth belonging to a middle class family from Vizag joined Skill Development Institute in Welding Batch. His father is a daily wage earner. He obtained information about SDI-Visakhapatnam from local Newspapers. After completing his Welding course from SDI-Visakhapatnam, Suresh took up a job in the Gulf. He is working in ASM Trading & Contracting Company, Qatar earning a salary of 1150 UAE Dirhams per month which is helping him to take care of his family.

KAMAL SAI

Kamal Sai, an alumni from Industrial Welding batch who is working in M/s. Kirby International, Abu Dhabi, brought laurels to SDI Visakhapatnam and the teaching fraternity when he requested SDI to handover his savings from the new job to his parents. His is earning Rs.35000 p.m. A cheque for Rs.1 lakh was handed over to the proud parents in the presence of faculty and officials of SDI. His parents thanked SDI and its faculty for providing an opportunity to their son.

PAPPU SANTHOSH

This is the story of Pappu Santhosh a successful Alumni of SDI-Visakhapatnam, Customer Care Executive-Relationship Centre batch, a resident of Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam. He always wanted to be a supporting hand in his family but he lacked proper guidance in putting his thoughts into reality. He says SDI has provided him an ability to access Computer which helped him to improve on IT skills. Today Santhosh is an independent man who plays a vital role in earning for his family. Presently he is working as an Operation Agent in a firm in Indore, earning Rs.18000/- per month.

PADALA HARIKA

Padala Harika, of Bhoyapalem village in Visakhapatnam is an alumni from Customer Care Executive batch. She says joining SDI was a dream come true for her as SDI has enabled her to improve her skills on customer handling, etiquettes and public speaking. She is presently working in Tech Mahindra as an Associate-Customer Support and able to discharge her role effectively. She gets a monthly salary of Rs.12500/-.

A. JAGADEESH

A. Jagadeesh hailing from Veeranarayanam village, Visakhapatnam District completed his intermediate and joined SDI with a passion to search his career in Industrial Welding. Besides academics, he has a flair for dance and has participated in many cultural programs in SDI Visakhapatnam. After completing training, he got placed in Welding Alloys South Asia Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad with salary of 13,000/- per month. He wants to pursue his dance and also take care of his family, now that he is in a position to earn a salary.

YUGANDER

Yugander alumni of Fitter Fabrication batch, belongs to a rural background from Kothpeta, Vajrapakotturu Mandal, Srikakulam. His dream was to secure an overseas placement and towards this goal he worked hard while in SDI Visakhapatnam and gathered required skills. He is now working in Hyundai Engineering based in Iraq with a monthly salary of Rs.20,000 p.m. He attributes his success to spoken English and Employbility Skills which he learned at SDI and helped him in securing his current job - English is mandatory for his job, he says.

K. RAMU

K. Ramu hailing from a poor family supported by his mother's earnings, joined SDI in Fitter Fabrication batch. He competed his ITI but wanted to further hone his skills. After successful training he has secured a job in L&T Construction and posted at Mysore. He earns a salary of Rs.13000/- with food & accommodation facility. He is now able to support his family financially through his earnings.

P. DURGA PRASAD

P. Durga Prasad a native of Visakhapatnam was initially an introvert which was an obstacle to take the responsibility of running his family. However, after joining SDI in Draughtsman Mechanical batch he gained confidence and at the end of his training could secure a decent job in Cyient Technologies as a Trainee Engineer and earning Rs.12000/- per month. He thanks SDI Visakhapatnam for supporting economically backward youth like to him to stand on their feet through excellent training.

SUVVADA SAI

Suvvada Sai, hails from a small farmer's family. After completing his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering with no idea towards his career, came across SDI Visakhapatnam. He was convinced that SDI could provide him an answer and after successfully completing his course in Draughtsman Mechanical, he is now working as a Trainee Engineer in IT Hub at Visakhapatnam. He thanks SDI for the rigorous practical sessions and Employbility Skills programs which is helping him to cope up his current profile.
